Mark Montini was born and raised in a small steel town outside of Pittsburgh, PA, where his father worked as an electrician at the local mill for over 35 years while wiring houses as a side job. This strong work ethic was instilled in him at an early age.
After high school, Mark attended Tulane University in New Orleans, where he played football and graduated with a Civil Engineering degree. After graduation, Mark worked for design/build firms in Port Arthur, TX and Tampa, FL before becoming a partner in a precast concrete company in Tampa, where he worked for 19 years. During this time he was responsible for sales, design, fabrication and delivery of components for a variety of residential and commercial buildings.
He has acted as owner/builder on four residences, one of which being a 2000 square foot vacation log home in Maggie Valley, where his family first fell in love with Western North Carolina. Since moving to Asheville in 2002, he has built in such prestigious developments as Poplar Ridge, The Ramble Biltmore Forest, and Rilandwell Estates.
Timberline has also adapted to changing market conditions where “Green” and “Sustainable” construction have become commonplace. Timberline recently completed their first HealthyBuilt home, which was Bronze Certified, and strives for energy efficiency in every home they build.
Mark’s education in engineering has taught him organizational and problem-solving skills, and his experience in team sports, throughout grade school, college, and coaching youth sports, has emphasized the importance of teamwork and communication. Although it has become a worn out cliche’, Mark prides himself on his “hands-on” involvement throughout design and construction, which is the cornerstone on which Timberline is built.
